Current Advances in the Treatment of Depression
The World Health Organization estimates that depression affects about 350 million people. Given the high prevalence of depression and its vertiginous progression in our day, there is a need for effective, effective and viable therapies. This paper presents a cognitive-behavioral program based on mindfulness whose goal is to treat depression. The program has been developed during the last ten years by the Research Group on Mental Health and Psychopathology (GRISAMP) of the University of Santiago de Compostela, consists of 8 sessions, and includes psychological techniques with a solid scientific basis and proven effectiveness.
